Piedmont Artist Profiles
Episode 1: Shane Manier from Guerilla Poets
Let me start but thank you for taking the time to listen to this podcast. I hope that you find these episodes interesting and insightful. I’ve been listening to talk radio as long as I can remember. We are basically still under construction. Everything is covered in dust, and the sheet-rockers are still here. But I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk to my guest.
I’ve been lurking for a while at local open mics and shows, trying to find artists that I thought would be interesting to interview. And I found many of them. The next step was to get the cajones to ask artists to come over to a stranger’s basement and sit down for4 an interview. And this all went down by chance.
This weeks guest is Shane Manier from Guerilla Poets, a community outreach group wrapped in artistic expression. They host art programs for troubled youth, go and perform in assisted living communities, and of course, they hold open mic shows all over the greater Charlotte area.
I met Shane and Daniel Arthur Gurlrey….my next guest on the show… on the deck of the Oak Street Mill in Cornelius, during an open mic they were hosting. And they both loved my idea, and…well….they came over.
Please enjoy this first episode. We will grow this to be bigger and better as we move along. I will not be uploading to the main distributors until I have a couple more episodes. So for now you can check us out on Facebook and Twitter, and look for links there for our Libsyn RSS feed. We will have a blog up soon, and probably a website to follow.
